I remember when I asked filmmaker Tenny Tenzer to contribute in the Glimpse Series. He got interested by the Glimpse idea without seeing any examples. Which is quite cool since he is an all digital kind of guy. Here’s his Glimpse and his story.
To be quite honest, I’ve got nothing with analogue pictures… untill I got hold of the Lomo.
In my profession as a freelance videojournalist I mainy work with digital moving pictures made by HD videocamera’s and more recently the Canon 5D Mk2. But I’ve never worked with a nostalgical device like a analogue photocamera. And man, it’s hard…
You don’t get the pictures you want, but you do get the pictures you need. Sounds kinda philosophical, but I think working with analogue is the quest for the perfect photo. With that said, your last photo is never good enough but gives you opportunities to make the next picture better. This in a way characterises my way of work: ‘unsertainty is the source of quality’.
Nowadays we take making pictures with a digital camera for granted: shooting tons of photo’s on ‘automatic’, where maybe one piece excels. Working analogue nowadays -I think- is a hommage to craftmanship that is photograpy.
Anyway… for the people still reading this column: I made some photo’s of my hometown Rotterdam, girlfriend, bike, editsuite @ late night talkshow Pauw & Witteman where I make an item called De Zapservice, one of the last nights in club Catwalk, a festival in Belgium, BBQ in a (Vroesen)park and a stand-off between Optimus Prime and Megatron. ^_^
Take care,

I hooked him up with a Lomography Diana Mini and Xpro Slide film when he had a great week on the horizon. Thanks for participating Tenny!
