Back from the Pampas

Back from the Pampas

Wow, last weekend I got back from a 3-week holiday traveling through Argentina. And man what fun it was. Buenos Aires, Salta, Glacier spotting in Patagonia, Punta del Diablo in Uruguay, and Torres del Paine in Chile. Lots of places were visited, lots of analog photos were taken. I will develop and try to scan some rolls of film over the weekend.

Expect a couple Argentina related posts with hopefully some nice photos in the coming weeks. Further more? I received a very nice gift from Hard Graft and received some other nice stuff in the mail which will be featured on Cloud Cuckoo.

Oh and I think it’s about time to put some more Tumblr Photo Bliss posts online. It’s all coming.

New Glimpse Series coming up

New Glimpse Series coming up

Yeah, finally! New Glimpse Series coming up.

After a short break it’s about time to pick up the pace again and produce some new Lomography Glimpse Series. Hope to post some nice series in the coming weeks.

Are you a creative and interested in participating in this Lomography x Cloud Cuckoo project by shooting some analog photos yourself? Feel free to say hi.

In the mood

In the mood

For a little dancing and partying because things are going pretty well lately.

There’s ease of mind. The freelancing business is doing great with 4 new projects kicking off (more about that soon). We have the 3 week trip planned for Argentina at the end of December. There’s a great party with friends coming up this weekend in Amsterdam. I’m incredibly in love with my girlfriend and Ernest Green aka Washed Out is playing on my Bose headphones.

And the video for this song is so damn good. Want. to. dance.

Go see.

Time off, time out

Time off, time out

I’m packed and ready to hit the road. Three friends and I are setting course for the sun and go all the way down in our rented camper through Belgium and France towards Fraga, Spain to attend the Monegros Desert festival. We’ll hunt down some sweet French coastal spots along the way to catch some sun and some summer breeze.

Having time off means a time out from blogging but I’m sure I’ll have some nice stories to tell and some sweet photos to show when I’m back. I’m bringing my Leica M3 and a lot of film with me.

Enjoy yourself in the meantime with my Tumblr, definitely worth a daily visit. See you soon!

Freelance for hire!

Freelance for hire!

It has been relatively quite over here on Cloud Cuckoo over the last couple of weeks, I know. So what’s up with that? Well, I recently started as a freelancer to fill up my spare hours besides my full time job.

I’m officially available for web and interaction design, photography and conceptual design. Go ahead, try and brief me if you have a project that needs some kind of attention (or you might have one in mind). I love to get involved!

Hard Graft Pocket iPhone case

I got the best gift from my love. She got me a Pocket Phone Case from Hard Graft.

My iPhone4 finally has some good shelter. See it in action in the full post.

APC first meetup

APC first meetup

The birth of the Analog Photo Collective is a fact. We had our first meetup almost two weeks ago. It was a fun but unfortunately rainy day for the 8 analog enthusiastic shutterbugs.

The rain kept us from going outside to shoot some film at the market in Rotterdam. So we got the chance to get to know each other. We all shared some background info and showed each other our favorite photos which was nice and interesting! It’s a fun and friendly group of people with a shared interest in analog photography. That’s exactly the way I thought it should be. Great that you all were there!

Photo booth fun

Photo booth fun

We took this one in Davos, Switzerland. As always, having some photos taken in a photo booth is fun.

Davos delight

Davos delight

What is it with fresh mountain air, white slopes and having time off? I figured it is perfect for clearing the mind and let new and fresh stuff in. Last week I was in Davos, Switzerland for a week of sweet snowboarding.

It was great except for the damn pain in my back which kept me off the Parsenn and Jakobshorn mountains for a couple days. Either way we had good times. The sun was shining, the slopes were in good condition and again, having time off.

I took some photos with my iPhone using Hipstamatic, Instagram and Spica you can spot them in the full post.

One week off

One week off

Just a quick post to let you know that I won’t be cheering your days up in the coming week with new Cloud Cuckoo posts. You can find me playing in the snow on my snowboard on some white Swiss mountains. In Davos that is. See you soon!

Let’s start an analog photo collective

Let’s start an analog photo collective

Ok, so some of you might have heard something about an low profile analog photo collective. For those who haven’t. A couple weeks ago I was staring at my Leica and figured that I’m giving him way too much time off. So I guess I needed a reason to get out more often and shoot some film. A quick look at my friends showed me that they are dealing with the same issues. All these lovely analog cameras are getting covered with dust where they should be catching some sun and fresh air.

Directions

Directions

The decision is made. I want to step my game up a bit from now on. I’d like to get more artistic with photography and share even more through Cloud Cuckoo. Not just the photos I made or found somewhere on the internet but also something more physical. I feel the desire to bring people together.

I would like to initiate projects like the Future Journal by WAFA, stuff like that. Hangout with other analog photographers and get better at it. You know, challenge each other and set new bars. That’s pretty much the direction from now on. A lot of paths will cross and new fun and inspiring people will be met hopefully. There’s still the Big Project in my mind which is my ultimate goal. That’s all about bringing people together and having good times. I’m at it.

So much for AFTG

So much for AFTG

That’s it. We pulled the AFTG (aka Academy for the Gifted) plug. After a couple years of fun we decided to quit the t-shirt business. It all turned out a big hassle when having fulltime jobs on the side. But hey, we had great fun.

Looking back on those years I can’t stop laughing about it. Our first production was hilarious! We produced a lot which never got sold. We over-estimated our crappy designs just by a tad at that time haha.

Our trips to Belgium to collect the shirts. The missing boxes which got lost by UPS. Our stickering actions throughout the country. Crazy hats I ordered which never went into sale. Endless trips. Shooting a video (see it below!) for the ‘Have You Seen My Kitty’ campaign. Photoshoots, release parties. Oh man, good times!

Berlin Calling

Berlin Calling

I’m excited about this. In two days I’ll be hitting Berlin for the weekend with a couple of friends. I guess it’ll be a photo fest since everyone’s bringing his digital and analogue camera’s. So be prepared because they’ll land here next week, Berlin through our lenses.

We’ll be staying in Kreuzberg at 36 Rooms. From there I don’t have a clue what we’re up about. I guess we’ll be fahrrad’ing from district to disctrict through East-Berlin to catch the best spots this cool city has to offer. Mike spotted a crazy party at Berghain so that’s what we’ll be doing for sure. As for the rest, equipped with my Unlike Berlin iPhone app I guess we’ll be just fine.

Jaartje Plus

Jaartje Plus

I recently had my birthday and Len is celebration hers next week so we figured out we combine our parties into one which will be held tomorrow. The invitation list has been sent, Spotify has been hooked up with the stereo, the playlists are made, food and beverages are in, icecubes for the bathtub are arranged. It’s nearly all there. One more day before we start the music!
