Dark Side of the Lens

Dark Side of the Lens

Waking up today couldn’t be any better. Besides finding my beautiful girlfriend lying next to me and our cat probably somewhere near there’s also a new edition of the Coggles Supplement waiting for me on my iPad.

This time short surfing documentary called Dark Side of the Lens really did it for me. Giving me that boost of energy to get my focus back in the right direction.

Dark Side of the Lens is a short video documentary by Mickey Smith. It’s about the hard life of the silent workhorses of the surfing world. The ones who provide us all those stunning images and videos. The mood of the shots with spoken words as their chaperon are poetry of the finest kind. Intense and inspiring. Must see!

Bliss

Bliss

Not the Bliss you might expect on this site but this is a very exciting photography project. Hanke Arkenbout asked me to participate in a photography project she initiated called Bliss.

Bliss is a magazine that features photographers from all around the globe with the same sort of feeling in their photos.

Bliss wants to give readers a more personal view at the photographers by interviewing them, giving them the opportunity to tell a bit more about themselves than the basic information. Each in there very own way. And yes…there will be lots of lovely photos!

Project Glass

Project Glass

One day… Google believes technology should work for you — to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.

A team within Google[x] group started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment.

Project Glass is wearable augmented reality technology. A visor that puts all relevant information in front of you. I’m not a big AR fan so far but I’m sure down for this kind of tech. Let’s hope Tom Ford hooks up to produce some stylish glasses.

Paper for iPad

Paper for iPad

This is an amazing app. Paper by FiftyThree is a for those who have an iPad and some drawing skills.

Paper is a free app for the iPad that allows you to write, sketch, and color beautiful images in digital Moleskine like notebooks. Paper looks absolutely stunning on the New iPad since it supports Retina display. The best part of the app is the rewind feature, which lets you playback what you just created. The watercolors are also pretty nicely rendered.

Download Paper from the App Store and experience it yourself. Get the whole set of tools and unleash all your creativity. See the video in the full post.

A Due Colori by Alberto Seveso

A Due Colori by Alberto Seveso

Alberto Seveso is an illustration and photography artist from Milan, Italy. His work is well known for various projects. His latest project called ‘A Due Colori’ really blowed up on the internet last week.

Just by looking at these photos makes you wonder if it’s some kind of scary beast from the deep. But in fact it’s Ink captured underwater in a very nice way.

See the photos in the full post to see what I mean.

Photo Bliss no.24

Here’s photo set no.24. Enjoy!

Twelve postcards by Greg Hunt

Twelve postcards by Greg Hunt

Nice goodie in the mail. Frisco Store was kind enough to add some goodies to my latest Vans Vault order.

The package also featured a Twelve postcards set by Greg Hunt. Greg Hunt is a photographer / filmmaker who is known for his work in the skate scene. He teamed up with Vans Syndicate for this Twelve postcards project.

Makes me want to shoot more film to be able to pull this one off myself one day. Oh well, who can I send a postcard?

Photodrips by Markus Linnenbrink

Photodrips by Markus Linnenbrink

German-born, Brooklyn based artist Markus Linnenbrink sure knows how to handle color. His work has been featured in tons of exhibitions and is a great source of inspiration for many.

Take the Photodrips for instance made of epoxy resin on wood. A perfect piece of art.

Fun fact. Markus Linnenbrink used to work just only with black and white and greyscale. Good for all he discovered color.

Go see his Photodrips work.

Daniel Ballou Industrial Design

Daniel Ballou Industrial Design

Daniel Ballou is an industrial designer at Dashbot, a design consultancy studio in California. Daniel manages to change everyday items and divert their uses for unusual objects.

We recently bought a new home and this might be a nifty feature for one of our walls. Really liking it.

Green Carpet

Green Carpet

Artist Gaëlle Villedary from Marseille thought of helping the village of Jaujac to celebrate 10 years of Art and Nature Trail. She came up with the idea to green fields and winding village houses over 420 meters in total.

What a very nice way to pay homage to a village. Just perfect. No wonder the Green Carpet project got nominated for the Artaq awards. The photos are taken by photographer David Monjou.

The result?

Levek

Levek

Elementary school busdriver by day. A crafter of deeply poetic, folky tunes with tribal rhythmic schemes by night. Levek—also known as David Levesque provides the kind of music that’s perfect for the spring season.

Give me some sun and a bunch of Levek tracks and I’m good.

Listen to Levek – Look On the Bright Side and songs from the LVK demo like Lemon Spreckled and Listenin’ In (track no. 3 and 4) in the full post.

Tumblr photography

Tumblr photography

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Tumblr. It’s always a joy to open up my Tumblr dashboard on my iPhone when I’m on the go. When behind the iMac I love to browse through peoples Tumblr archives in search of inspirational Tumblr photography.

I made a quick screenshot of my Tumblr’s archive to remind you how nice it is and to incite you to hop on the Tumblr bandwagon and hook up to share the photos that inspire you.

Talking about Tumblr photography. There’s a new Tumblr Photo Bliss coming soon.

See you on my dashboard.

On and Beyond

On and Beyond

I’ve been following On & Beyond for some time now. On & Beyond is a visual and style focused blog by photographer Vincent Tsang.

Vincent brings his look on fashion onto your computer screen with some great photography from random events and fashion shows like Project and Capsule. His blog also features some nice recurring projects. Like the I Wish They Made This for Girls series which I love. Simply because girls always look damn sexy in mens clothing.

Go visit.
